5 Mils Bronze Coin Necklace
This is an authentic old Palestinian coin mounted as a pendant in sterling silver, entirely handcrafted by our Palestinian jewelry artisan from the Old City of Jerusalem, Ahmad.
The coin is a 2 cm diameter 5 mils holed piece in bronze color. On the reverse side, you can read the word "Palestine" in Arabic, English, and Hebrew, along with the manufacturing date in English and Arabic. On the obverse side, there's the coin's value in Arabic, English, and Hebrew, along with a depiction of an olive branch, one of the symbols of Palestine.
The sterling silver chain is included.
Each piece is unique, so there may be variations from one piece of jewelry to another. The manufacturing date may differ from the one shown in the photo.
Why Get This Piece?
Not only is it a fine, elegant, and original piece of jewelry, but it's also a museum-worthy item that you wear. Thus, it's a real investment as pieces like this increase in value over time.
Moreover, by wearing it, you also carry tangible proof of Palestine's existence well before 1948, contrary to the main argument of some propaganda that Palestine never existed!
History
The Palestinian pound (جُنَيْه فِلَسْطَينِيّ) was the official currency used in Palestine between 1927 and 1947. It succeeded the Ottoman pound, which ceased circulation in 1917 with the end of the Ottoman Empire, and the Egyptian pound.
Coins and banknotes were produced by the Palestine Currency Board, with inscriptions in English, Arabic, and Hebrew. Coins were minted until 1947, but those from 1947 didn't circulate, whereas banknotes were produced until 1945.
