The Palestinian Keffiyeh (كوفية) is far more than a simple scarf – it stands as one of the most powerful symbols of Palestinian identity and resistance.
📜 A History Woven in Struggle
During the Great Arab Revolt (1936–1939), the keffiyeh became the emblem of armed resistance and the Palestinian people 🇵🇸.
The uprising targeted the British occupation, growing Jewish immigration, and inactive Arab elites.
Until then, peasants wore the keffiyeh daily. During the revolt, Palestinian fighters adopted it to conceal their identities and display the unity of the people.
In solidarity, the wider population followed suit. The keffiyeh thus became a visible sign of resistance and an alternative to the Turkish tarbouche worn by urban elites.

🌍 From Palestine to the World
Over the decades, the keffiyeh crossed borders. Yasser Arafat wore it everywhere, including at the United Nations podium.
Figures such as Leila Khaled and Abu Ubayda also wore it, reinforcing its image as a symbol of resistance.
Today, it remains a universal sign of solidarity with Palestine and a refusal to accept oppression.

Sa’ad is one of eight siblings who all grew up as orphans. Raised by his older brothers, they overcame life’s hardships together, starting from nothing and gradually managing to buy two shops in Jerusalem’s Old City. Today, Sa’ad works in one of these family-owned stores, carrying on the dream and determination of his brothers.
Born, raised, and still living in the Old City of Jerusalem, Sa’ad has an endless love for its historic and spiritual streets. In his youth, during the time of the First Intifada, like many Palestinians, he was deeply involved in political activism for his people’s freedom. This commitment led to multiple imprisonments and prevented him from completing his education.
Despite the challenges, Sa’ad embodies the resilience and dignity of Jerusalem’s residents, welcoming everyone who steps into his shop and sharing with them the true soul of his beloved city.
