These pouches began with an idea by Sa’ad, a Palestinian merchant in Jerusalem: to collect old hand-embroidered traditional Palestinian dresses, some more than 100 years old, in order to preserve their embroidery and give it a new life.
Sa’ad then entrusts these antique textiles to Ibrahim, a Palestinian artisan originally from the mountainous region surrounding Al-Khalil (Hebron). Ibrahim carefully selects and works with fragments of antique tatreez, transforming them by hand into pouches.
Rather than reproducing traditional motifs on new fabric, each creation preserves a genuine fragment of an old Palestinian dress. Its colours, patterns and signs of age are all part of its history.
As every pouch is made from a different fragment, each piece is unique. The pouch you receive may therefore show slight variations compared with the one shown in the photos.
By choosing this creation, you directly support the work of Sa’ad and Ibrahim while helping to preserve and pass on Palestinian textile heritage.
Dry clean only. Do not machine wash or tumble dry. Do not rub the antique embroidery.
