An authentic antique Palestinian coin, transformed into jewellery in Jerusalem.
In his workshop in Jerusalem’s Old City, Ahmad gives an original Palestinian 10 mils coin a new purpose, creating its sterling silver 925 setting entirely by hand.
Measuring approximately 3 cm in diameter, the coin retains its original inscriptions and motifs. The name “Palestine” appears in Arabic, English and Hebrew, alongside the year in which the coin was minted. The other side displays its denomination in three languages, surrounded by an olive branch.
Ahmad works around the antique coin while preserving its original character: its patina, shades and traces of age remain visible and become an integral part of the finished piece.
A genuine piece of monetary history
The 10 mils coin formed part of the monetary system introduced by the Palestine Currency Board during the British Mandate period. The currency was introduced in 1927 and officially featured inscriptions in Arabic, English and Hebrew.
Today, these coins are historical and numismatic objects, allowing the necklace to incorporate an authentic piece of currency from the period rather than a modern reproduction.
As every antique coin has its own history, the year, patina, shades and signs of wear may differ from the piece shown in the photographs. These natural variations make every pendant unique.
A sterling silver 925 chain is included.
Avoid contact with water, perfume, cosmetics and household products.
Gently clean the sterling silver setting and chain with a soft cloth. Do not polish the antique coin with abrasive or chemical products, as its natural patina and signs of age are part of its character.
