Description
A jewel shaped by history
This sizable ring highlights a genuine Palestinian coin, transformed into jewelry by Ahmad, a Palestinian jeweler from Jerusalem’s Old City (Al Quds). Each piece is mounted on sterling silver 925, ensuring elegance and durability.
Unique and authentic
Every ring is handmade, which means it may slightly differ from the pictures. The coin’s minting date may also vary, making each jewel truly unique.
Elegance and lasting value
This ring is both a refined accessory and a collectible piece. Over time, it increases in value. By wearing it, you also carry material proof of Palestine’s existence before 1948, countering narratives that deny its history.
Palestinian monetary heritage
The Palestine pound (جُنَيْه فِلَسْطَينِيّ) was the official currency between 1927 and 1947. It replaced the Ottoman pound after 1917 and later the Egyptian pound. Issued by the Palestine Currency Board, coins and notes carried inscriptions in Arabic, English, and Hebrew. Coins were minted until 1947, although those from that year never circulated, while banknotes ceased production in 1945.
Ahmad transforms an authentic antique Palestinian coin by hand into a unique piece of jewellery in his workshop in Jerusalem’s Old City.
For this ring, he uses a Palestinian 2 mils coin measuring approximately 3 cm in diameter, around which he handcrafts a sterling silver 925 setting. The ring is adjustable, allowing it to fit different finger sizes.
As these are genuine antique coins rather than reproductions, the year, patina and appearance of the coin may vary from one piece to another. Each ring therefore has its own unique characteristics.
The Palestine pound was introduced in 1927 and divided into 1,000 mils. Coins issued during this period bear the name “Palestine” in Arabic, English and Hebrew, together with their year of minting. Today, they remain tangible pieces of Palestine’s history before 1948.
By choosing this piece, you directly support Ahmad and his family in Jerusalem, while helping to sustain Palestinian craftsmanship and traditional skills.
Avoid contact with water, perfume, cosmetics and household cleaning products.
To restore the shine of sterling silver 925, gently polish it with a soft cloth suitable for silver.
