This quarter-watermelon pendant is a miniature work of art, entirely handcrafted in Bethlehem by Palestinian artisans Omar, Thikryat and Mahmoud.
Its creation relies on an exceptionally rare craft: assembling tiny fragments of precious stones to form an intricate micro-mosaic. Their workshop is one of the very few in the world to master the creation of these remarkably precise miniature mosaics.
Each pendant requires around one week of meticulous work. The artisans assemble the stones one by one before completing the piece in sterling silver 925. Because every stage is done by hand, no two pendants can ever be exactly identical.
### The watermelon, a Palestinian symbol
With its red, green, black and white colors echoing those of the Palestinian flag, the watermelon has become a symbol of Palestinian identity, resistance and solidarity. Its use as a political symbol is notably associated with periods when displaying the Palestinian flag was banned or suppressed.
This pendant transforms that symbol into a miniature work of art that can be worn every day.
A sterling silver 925 chain is included with the pendant, making it ready to wear or give as a meaningful gift.
