An authentic Palestinian coin transformed by hand into jewellery in Jerusalem.
In his workshop in Jerusalem’s Old City, Ahmad transforms a genuine antique Palestinian 50 mils coin into a pendant, individually handcrafting its setting from sterling silver 925.
Measuring approximately 3 cm, this silver-coloured antique coin retains all of its original details.
One side bears the name “Palestine” in Arabic, English and Hebrew, alongside the year of issue written in Arabic and Western numerals. The other displays the 50 mils denomination, again in all three languages, together with an olive branch, a symbol deeply associated with Palestine.
This is not a reproduction: every pendant incorporates an authentic period Palestinian coin. The year may therefore differ from the one shown in the photographs, while natural signs of age can vary from one coin to another, making every piece unique.
A piece of history to wear
Beyond its aesthetic appeal, this pendant allows you to preserve and wear a genuine historical object.
These coins are tangible traces of the monetary system that existed in Palestine during the first half of the twentieth century. Their age, year and condition may also influence their interest among collectors, although any future increase in value can naturally never be guaranteed.
Today, Ahmad gives these original coins a new life by transforming them by hand into jewellery in Jerusalem itself.
Palestinian monetary heritage
The Palestine pound (جُنَيْه فِلَسْطَينِيّ) was introduced in Palestine in 1927, following a period in which the Egyptian pound circulated after the end of Ottoman currency.
Issued under the authority of the Palestine Currency Board, its coins and banknotes were notably inscribed in Arabic, English and Hebrew.
Today, these original coins remain tangible witnesses to a period of Palestine’s history. This pendant preserves that heritage in a different form: a piece of jewellery handcrafted in Jerusalem.
A sterling silver 925 chain is included with the pendant.
Avoid contact with water, perfume, cosmetics and household products.
Gently clean the silver with a soft, dry cloth. Do not use abrasive or chemical cleaners on the antique coin or Eilat stones, and protect the bracelet from impacts.
The coin’s natural patina and signs of age are part of its history and should not be removed through intensive polishing.
