What if tear gas canisters fired by the Israeli army could be transformed into Palestinian jewellery?

That is exactly what Akram, a Palestinian artisan and engineer living as a refugee in Aida Refugee Camp in Bethlehem, has set out to do: transform tear gas canisters left behind by the Israeli army in his camp into handmade rings.

In Aida, military incursions and the use of tear gas are part of the reality experienced by residents. Akram has chosen to collect these canisters, originally designed for crowd control and repression, and give them an entirely different purpose.

Every ring is made from start to finish by Akram in his own workshop. He collects the canisters, works the material, cuts it, shapes it and gradually transforms it into a piece of jewellery. These are not ready-made rings assembled from purchased components: Akram creates each piece himself, starting with the reclaimed canisters.

This process requires time, precision and genuine craftsmanship. In his hands, an object associated with military occupation becomes a handcrafted creation that can be worn every day.

What makes these rings remarkable is both their origin and the way they are made. They are not simply inspired by Palestine: they are crafted from materials actually collected in a Palestinian refugee camp.

Each ring is adjustable and has its own details and finish, reflecting Akram’s individual craftsmanship.

Rings are sold individually, and designs are selected at random. The design you receive depends on availability and may differ from those shown in the photographs. It is not possible to choose a specific design.

By choosing this ring, you directly support Akram and his workshop in Aida Refugee Camp while wearing a creation with a unique story: that of a Palestinian artisan transforming traces of military occupation into jewellery.

Avoid prolonged contact with water, perfume, cosmetics and household cleaning products. Gently clean your ring with a soft, dry cloth. Adjust it carefully and avoid repeated bending to preserve its shape and finish.
