This pendant is the result of nearly one week of meticulous work, carried out entirely by hand.
It is created in Bethlehem by Omar, Thikryat and Mahmoud, in one of the few workshops in the world specialising in the art of micro-mosaic. Each fragment of semi-precious stone is carefully worked and assembled by hand to form the design.
The pendant depicts a watermelon, whose red, green, black and white colours echo those of the Palestinian flag. The watermelon has notably been used as a Palestinian visual symbol in contexts where displaying the flag was banned or restricted, and has since become widely associated with Palestinian identity and solidarity.
The micro-mosaic is set in sterling silver 925, and a matching sterling silver 925 chain is included. As natural stones are used and every stage is completed by hand, no two creations can be perfectly identical: each pendant is unique.
